Rizna (she/they) is queer Integrative Psychotherapist & Youth Worker of Sri Lankan ancestry based in Naarm (Melbourne), Australia. Their therapeutic approach is gentle, collaborative, and grounded in curiosity, cultural humility, and deep respect for each person’s lived experience.

They have worked with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Youth within Residential Care in Djugun-Yawuru country (Broome, Western Australia), and community-based mental health settings across the Kulin Nations (Victoria, Australia), supporting individuals navigating what the western medical model would classify as — depression, anxiety, suicidality, psychosis, schizophrenia, eating disorders, AOD dependencies, ADHD, and ASD.

It is important to Rizna that they work from a non-pathologising lens. Informed by decolonial, abolitionist, and trauma-responsive perspectives, they recognise emotional and psychological distress shaped by intergenerational trauma, colonisation, systemic inequities, and the pressures of contemporary society.

Their work centres both the individual and the broader systems that impact a person, creating a therapeutic space that honours the whole person—their story, culture, body, spirit and soul.

Rizna is a student of Sufism, and alongside this devotional practice, the way of Dzogchen has shaped them to cultivate a passion for end-of-life care, to which they are currently seeking mentorship in. These traditions and practices deepen their commitment to presence, compassion, justice, truth and advocacy for collective liberation.
